The Marriage of Adam and Carly

Sunday, June 29 was a beautiful day for a wedding in New York City, and Carly Sirlin and Adam Sonenshine had an amazing wedding in a truly wonderful location.

Pier 60 was the site of the wedding. There was a view of the Statue of Liberty, the sparkling Hudson river dotted with graceful sailing vessels, and a skyline view highlighted by a wonderful sunset.

Carly is the daughter of Richard and Arlene Sirlin of Long Island, NY. The bride was attended by her three sisters as Maid and Matrons of Honor (Samantha Rogers, Brittany Akkerman, and Stacey Sirlin). Adam is the son of Kenneth Sonenshine and the late Debbie Sonenshine and the step son of Sharon Sonenshine of Atlanta. His brothers served as Best Men (Marc Sonenshine and Stephen Sonenshine).

The bride was preceded up the aisle by her attendants, flower girl, ring bearer, junior groomsmen, and the grandmothers of the couple: Mickey Sonenshine, Tina Weisz, and Silvia Sirlin.

The wedding ceremony was followed by a reception and dinner for the 350 guests. The food and beverages at the reception were remarkable with an incredible variety of serving stations for pot stickers, tacos, roast beef, and even hot corn beef and other New York delicacies. For a salute to the couple's southern roots, there was a station with fried okra.

The dinner featured a multi-course menu, a continuation of the full beverage service, and a 12-piece band for dancing. After the dinner dishes were cleared, the staff circulated through the tables with a wide selection of individual desserts.

As a tribute to Adam's late mother, Debbie Sonenshine, desserts were on hand prior to the ceremony. The offering featured a poster quoting Debbie's advice to "eat your dessert first."

The rehearsal dinner was sponsored by Kenneth and Sharon Sonenshine. Along with a cocktail party and wonderful dinner, the audience was entertained with humorous (some really, really funny) skits and stories prepared by friends and family of the bride and groom.
